Log in from off campus?

The databases, e-journals, and other electronic resources to which the 51社区 Library subscribes are available for off-campus use by students, faculty, and staff of 51社区. In order to be recognized as an authorized user of these resources, you must either:

  • be using a 51社区 computer, OR
  • login to the EZProxy system.

If you are not using a 51社区 computer, EZProxy will automatically detect that and will give you a page from which to log in the first time you try to access a restricted resource. You will log in using your 51社区 email address (firstname.lastname@my.uu.edu for students, first initial last name@uu.edu for staff and faculty) and password (the same one used to log in to 51社区 computers and Canvas). If your email address and password do not allow you to log in, contact computing services at 731-661-4357 (Jackson) or 901-759-0029 x126 (Germantown).

All the books which the library has purchased, whether print or e-books, are listed in the catalog along with media, print journals, and reference books. Search using the keyword or title. Be sure to also note the location of the book: Main Book Stacks, Reference, Juvenile, Germantown, and Main DVD Collection are the most commonly used. The Juvenile collection is located on 1st floor. All other collections are located on the 2nd floor.

Find a specific article cited in another source or by my professor?

51社区 Library has both full-text (online) and print journals, so you need to check in two places. For full-text journals, click on and enter the title of the journal in the search box. If we have full-text content for that title, you will get a list of the years available and corresponding databases. Follow the link to the database and work your way to your specific article. To see if we have the journal in print, search the for the title of your journal. Any results you receive will tell you what years we own and where the title is located.

Get an article or book which the library does not own?

51社区 Library can borrow materials for you from other institutions through Interlibrary Loan.

Find copies of textbooks in the library?

As a general rule, the library does not have copies of textbooks, as students are expected to purchase them for classroom use. You can check to see if your textbook is an exception to that rule.

Reserve a group study room?

These rooms are designed for groups rather than for individuals. All study rooms are available on a first-come, first-served basis, but they can also be by 51社区 students. Groups with email confirmation will have priority over walk-ins. Students may reserve the rooms for up to two hours per day, but may stay in the room after their reservation expires, until a group holding a reservation comes to the room.

Suggest an item for the library to purchase?

The library welcomes any suggestions for purchasing items. Please refer to the Collection Development Policy for the selection criteria we follow. Please fill out the Purchase Recommendation Form with your request. All requests will be considered.
