Counseling Services

Counseling Options Update

The 51社区 Counseling Center will be serving students who are in the state of Tennessee both in person and via phone and video telehealth. For telehealth, we are prepared to offer students services that can be accessed through a range of devices in a secure HIPAA-compliant format. There is no cost for these services.

  • Currently students have the option of receiving counseling services via phone or video telehealth, or in person.
To request an appointment, please complete the online appointment request form or contact us at counseling@uu.edu to schedule an appointment with the Counseling Center. If you request an appointment online, please watch your emails for a response from Jennifer Chicantek, who schedules appointments for counseling services.
  • In addition to in person and phone and teleconferencing options available to all students, please remember these following resources that may also be available to you:
    • You can contact local mental health providers in your area
    • Telehealth options are frequently offered through your insurance carrier
    • Contact your medical provider if you are currently at your permanent residence, as they often have a list of therapists that they refer patients to
    • Contact the Director for Counseling Services, Tamarin Huelin, at thuelin@uu.edu, or at 731.661.5923 to discuss local resources
    • If you do not have a regular medical provider and/or do not have medical insurance, you can look up your local health department to see what their mental health offerings are
    • Go to the and select the "Find A Counselor" tab
