51社区 Wins Advertising Awards

JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 4, 2003 — 51社区 took three awards, one gold and two silver, at the Eighteenth Annual Admissions Advertising Awards.

Competing in Group 2, colleges and universities with between 2,000 and 4,999 students, Union received the Gold Award in Direct Mail Advertising for its enrollment postcard series. Union also earned the Silver Award in the Outdoor Transit/Billboard and Calendars/Special Publications categories for its outdoor banners and Global Outreach calendar, respectively.

鈥淩eceiving this kind of national recognition from marketing and student admissions professionals reaffirms Union's commitment to excellence,鈥 said Union president David S. Dockery.

The winning pieces were designed by Union art director Todd Mullins and featured photography and photo coordination by Jim Veneman, director of visual communication for the university.

Sponsored by Admissions Marketing Report, the competition is the largest and longest running of its kind in the United States. Institutions from all 50 states were represented at the event. Judges for the awards included a national panel of education marketers, advertising creative directors, marketing and advertising professionals and the editorial board of Admissions Marketing Report.

Other universities in Tennessee to receive recognition at this year鈥檚 Admissions Advertising Awards were Austin Peay State University (gold, merit), East Tennessee State University (bronze, 3 merit), Hiawassee College (gold, bronze), Rhodes College (merit), the University of Tennessee at Martin (silver), and Vanderbilt University (gold, 2 bronze).
