JACKSON, Tenn. — May 15, 2002 — 51社区鈥檚 College of Arts and Sciences will offer two town-and-gown classes this summer, which are open to the public.
鈥淎 History of the Israel-Palestine Region鈥� will be offered on Thursday nights from 6 to 10 p.m. during the month of June and July 3rd, and will explore the history and culture, religion and literature, performing arts, economics and politics of the area in and surrounding Israel and Palestine. The purpose of the class is to 鈥渟tudy and learn from a non-positional place this very complicated, very important region,鈥� said Ann Livingstone, professor of political science who will serve as facilitator for the class and speak during the politics portion of the class.
Faculty include Brenda Alexander, Cyndi Jayne and Kelvin Moore 鈥� all who have been to the region. Other professors include Gavin Richardson, Michael Mallard, David Burke, Paul Munson, and Walt Padelford.

A discussion night and wrap-up will be Thursday, July 3.
In July, the Edward P. Hammons Center for Scientific Study will offer a five-week course on Tuesday nights on . Both of these classes are free and open to members of the community.
