JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 13, 2001 — The 51社区 Art Gallery is currently hosting the works of metal sculpture and painter Joel Peterson and illustrator and painter Tony Novak. The exhibit, which is open to the public at no charge, will run through Mar. 15.
Peterson, before accepting his current position as assistant professor of art at Roberts Wesleyan College in Rochester, N.Y., worked in the commercial art industry for nearly 20 years as a jewelry designer and graphic artist. He is a graduate of State University of New York College at Geneseo in Geneseo, N.Y., and received his master's degree in fine arts from the University of Illinois in Champagne-Urbana, Ill.
Novak, a graduate of Middle Tennessee State University, has also spent more than 14 years of experience in commercial and fine art, utilizing his skills in both illustration and plaster relief sculpture. He has participated in numerous art exhibitions across the country and has received several national awards, including the D.E.S.I. Award from Graphic Design USA and the N.U.C.E.A. Gold Award in Marketing and Promotion.
