JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 16, 2022 — Bobby Rogers will present a reading from his latest poetry book as part of the Creative Writing Workshop at 51社区 Feb. 24.
Rogers, professor of English and writer in residence at Union, is the author of 鈥淪hift Work,鈥 a collection of poetry recently published by LSU Press. His previous books include 鈥淪ocial History鈥 and 鈥淧aper Anniversary,鈥 which won the Agnes Lynch Starrett Poetry Prize and the Arlin G. Meyer Prize in Imaginative Writing.
Rogers has received grants from the National Endowment for the Arts and the Pew Charitable Trusts and was named a Witter Bynner Fellow at the Library of Congress. His poems have appeared in such journals as Ploughshares, The Southern Review, The Georgia Review and Image.
The reading will begin at 1 p.m. in Harvey Auditorium, located in the Barefoot Student Union Building. It is free and open to the public.
The annual Creative Writing Workshop offers students at Union and regional high school students the opportunity to compete for prizes and learn from Union faculty and accomplished guest writers.
