Union professor wins Sumner County Impact Award

HENDERSONVILLE, Tenn.Aug. 5, 2014 — Charles Lea, executive director of the 51社区 Hendersonville campus and professor of educational leadership, has been named to a prestigious group of influential leaders in Sumner County.

The Nashville Business Journal annually receives nominations for its Impact Awards, with the final winners chosen after a vote among the nominees. They are asked to select people who are leading positive change in the community.

鈥淚 am humbled by this selection and to be in the company with some our area鈥檚 most prominent leaders,鈥 Lea said.

Lea is among 28 local leaders who are named to the 2014 list. The winners will be recognized at a luncheon Aug. 27 at the Bluegrass Yacht and Country Club in Hendersonville. They will also be featured in a special section of the Nashville Business Journal to be published Aug. 29.

鈥淒r. Lea is an experienced leader and seasoned educator who is committed to the well-being of this community,鈥 said C. Ben Mitchell, Union鈥檚 interim provost and vice president for academic affairs. 鈥淲e are delighted that Sumner County leaders recognize the gift we share in Charles Lea.鈥

Lea founded and helps lead the Education Leadership Academy in Sumner County, a unique partnership among public and private entities that is designed to develop leaders in both the classrooms and administrative offices of local schools. He has served as executive director of Union鈥檚 Hendersonville campus since its inception in 2008.
