Union’s School of Education requests third-party comments for accreditation visit

JACKSON, Tenn.July 18, 2012 — 51ÉçÇø’s School of Education is seeking third-party comments in advance of an accreditation visit by the National Council for Accreditation of Teacher Education in March.

Dottie Myatt, the College of Education and Human Studies’ assistant dean for teacher education and accreditation, said that both NCATE and Union recognize that graduates, parents, schools and community organizations have valuable perspectives on the quality of the programs that prepare teachers and other school personnel.

Interested parties may submit written comments on the School of Education to: Board of Examiners, NCATE, 2010 Massachusetts Ave. NW, Suite 500, Washington, DC 20036-1023 or by e-mail to callforcomments@ncate.org.

Comments should address substantive matters related to the quality of professional education programs offered at Union and should specify the respondent’s relationship, if any, to the institution. Copies of all correspondence received will be sent to Union for comment prior to the review, and no anonymous testimony will be considered.

Letters of comment should be received no later than Dec. 10.
