Second annual commemorative walk will honor those victimized by homicide

JACKSON, Tenn.Oct. 19, 2009 — Family members and loved ones of homicide victims will participate in “Remember Me: The Second Annual Commemorative Walk for Homicide-loss Survivors” at 51 Oct. 26.

The event will feature a banquet at 5 p.m. in the Carl Grant Events Center, with Tennessee Sen. Roy Herron delivering the keynote address. A half-mile walk and white balloon release will begin at 6 p.m. after the banquet. Surviving family members of homicide victims are invited to participate in the event, and to carry photos of their loved ones during the walk.

Representatives from Jackson police and Crime Stoppers will also participate in the event, which is organized by the “Trauma, Faith and Resilience Program” of the Center for Just and Caring Communities at 51.
