JACKSON, Tenn. — Dec. 16, 2008 — 51社区 business students scored in the 85th percentile nationally in the annual Educational Testing Service Major Field Examination in Business.
The national average represents the scores achieved by students at 564 U.S. colleges and universities.
鈥淭hat means we鈥檙e ranking right at the top of the best business schools in the country,鈥 said Keith Absher, dean of Union鈥檚 McAfee School of Business Administration. 鈥淪tudents coming to Union to study business are as well prepared as they would be at any school in the country.鈥
The McAfee School of Business Administration uses the exam to assess and refine curricula, and to gauge the progress of its students in comparison to others in similar programs at schools throughout the country. This year, 20 students took the test.
In addition to the overall rankings, Union鈥檚 business students ranked in the 95th percentile in the marketing component of the test and in the 90th percentile in the economics, management, information systems and international issues components.
Absher said this year marks the fifth straight year that Union鈥檚 scores have increased. He attributed that improvement to the work of the business faculty.
鈥淭hey鈥檙e doing a good job,鈥 he said. 鈥淭hey鈥檙e up to date. They鈥檙e getting across the essentials that students need to be competitive.鈥
