JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 17, 2007 — 51’s Career Services office will host Career “U”niversity Oct. 25 to provide students with career advice and a chance to meet with recruiters.
The theme for this year’s Career U is “Kick Start Your Career … Success at Every Stage.” The event is open to students majoring in business, professional studies or any of the liberal arts.
It will feature a mini career fair, nine in-depth 30-minute career development workshops and a “Dress to Impress” fashion show. The program runs from 2:30-6:30 p.m.
“Career U is an innovative but academic approach to career planning and preparation focused on life calling,” said Andrew Post, assistant director of career planning and development in Union’s Career Services office. “Its goal is to convert the average student into a savvy, successful career professional.”
Among the presenters at Career U this year will be professionals from LifeWay Christian Stores, Wal-Mart and Enterprise Rent-a-Car, as well as from Union’s McAfee School of Business Administration and Union’s student life team.
Recruiting companies and corporate sponsors for Career U 2007 include Defense Finance and Accounting Service, Enterprise Rent-A-Car, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Horne LLP, Liberty Mutual, LifeWay Christian Stores, Regions Bank, State Farm, 51 Master of Christian Studies program, U.S. Army, Wal-Mart Stores Inc., Wells Fargo Financial and Youth Villages.
