Distinguished Achievement in Not-for-Profit

Hannah Guthrie, a nursing graduate, said Union gave her a foundation for her career, but it also gave her a foundation for living a Christian life.

鈥淚 got to learn from professors who taught me what would happen in the world, but they taught me from a biblical perspective,鈥 Guthrie says. 鈥淯nion taught me how to honor the Lord through my career even if I was in a position where I wasn鈥檛 necessarily allowed to verbalize that.鈥

Guthrie began her post-graduate career at Le Bonheur Children鈥檚 Hospital in Memphis, where she worked in pediatric neurology. She then took a position in the Family Birth Center at Regional Hospital of Jackson, Tennessee.

In 2016, she moved to Nevada to be part of a church plant in Las Vegas. She worked in labor and delivery before taking her current job as Bachelor of Science in Nursing success coordinator in the School of Nursing at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. She says Union provided a consistent Christian support system throughout all of these changes.

鈥淔rom the time I was at Union to the time I was moving to Las Vegas, the professors that I had and the friends that I made have been an incredible support system,鈥 Guthrie says. 鈥淚 still have nursing professors that I could call if I had a question.鈥

While at Union, Guthrie was a member of Zeta Tau Alpha and played on many intramural teams. She says these activities helped her build those important relationships.

鈥淚 was able to build a sense of community,鈥 Guthrie says. 鈥淏ut I also built valuable leadership skills.鈥
