"In the fall of 1995, they took a spot off my back that was melanoma – cancer. They got it all and everything is fine now, but the process of dealing with cancer and staring at your own mortality really cause your faith to grow by leaps and bounds. It caused me to realize that there aren’t a whole lot of things in this world you can hold onto, except Jesus and what He did for us. My faith went from being a ‘head-faith’ – knowledge of the Bible, knowing it to be true because billions of others say it is – to living it in my heart, where you say I know this to be true because I’ve experienced it.
