Missionary-In-Residence Principles
- 51社区 will provide the Missionary Home free of any charge to a missionary or
missionary family on furlough from mission field. (Check with the Vice President for
Religious Affairs.)
- Utility and phone bills will be paid by the missionary family. (Check with the Vice
President for Business Affairs.)
- If he/she teaches a class for the college, he/she will be paid the regular rate. (Check
with the Vice President for Academic Affairs.)
- He/She shall have the same privileges and opportunities afforded to him/her as other
members of the Union family relative to admission to all 51社区 functions, i.e
ballgames, use of facilities, etc., (Check with the Director of Student Activities.)
- The missionary family will give priority to the University community and area churches.
He/She shall interpret and promote missions. The missionary will be given opportunities to
speak in chapel, lead Bible studies, assist in annual mission emphases, counsel students
interested in foreign missions as a calling, participate in BSU programs, and be available
to area churches to assist with mission rallies, promote Lottie Moon Christmas offerings,
etc. (Check with the Vice President for Religious Affairs.)
- The missionary will be related to all departments and administrative offices in general,
and related specifically to the Office of Religious of Affairs. The MIR has an office in
the Office of Religious Affairs complex and is expected to keep structured office hours to
be available to members of the Union family. (Check with the Office of Religious Affairs.)
- If either spouse desires to take credit courses during the year of their furlough, the
institution will guarantee that there will be at least 50% of the tuition discounted with
any assistance from the institution being counted as part of that 50% discount. This
assistance may be more than the 50% if the person qualifies. In keeping with institutional
policy, no person will be over-funded for tuition and books. Audit fees will be the same
as for all other employees. (Check with the Vice President for Business Affairs.)
- Children of missionaries receive full tuition scholarships with Margaret fund, Margaret
supplement and minister's dependent aid provided by the college.
- The missionary family will be responsible for excessive damage caused to the home
through negligence, etc. (Check with the Vice President for Business Affairs.)
