Eddie and Myrla were appointed missionaries by the International Mission Board in 1992. From 1992-1997 they served through CSI, the IMB’s humanitarian arm which worked in areas of the world where traditional missionary methods were unwelcome. Their current assignment is strategy associate for Northern Africa and the Middle East. This includes the countries of Chad, Sudan, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Djbouti and Somalia.

Eddie holds the bachelor of arts degree from California Baptist College and the master of divinity and doctor of ministry degrees from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. Myrla attended Baylor University and California Baptist College.

The Pates have four sons: Eddie, Jr. 16; Benjamin, 14; Samuel, 11; and Jonathan 4.
