51ÉçÇø welcomes Rev. Kim and Kathy North as the 1997-98 Missionaries in Residence. Kim and Kathy, who have been serving in the Philippines since 1992, are residing on Union's campus with their three children - Alan, Mary Katherine and Steven.
Kim, a native of Bells, Tenn., received the bachelor's of science degree from Union in 1981 followed by the master's of divinity degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, Tenn. Katherine, who is a registered nurse and a native of Orlinda, Tenn., was graduated from Union in 1986 with the bachelor's of science in nursing.
For seven years, Union has provided a residence for Southern Baptist missionaries during their furlough. The missionaries, who live on Union's campus for one year, spend considerable time visiting in West Tennessee churches and getting to know Union students as they share of their work in international missions.
The missionaries-in-residence program provides mentoring opportunities to Union students who are entering the mission field. Kim and Kathy will be happy to talk with anyone who is considering a call to the mission field. During the Spring 1998 semester, they will teach Survey of Missions, a course focusing on Southern Baptist missions.
Kim and Kathy can be reached in the Office of Campus Ministries at (901) 661-5242 or at knorth@buster.uu.edu.
