Background Ministry

Both Sherri and I have been blessed through the gift of parents who loved the Lord and who saw that we grew up within the nurture of loving church families. At the age of seven, I made a profession of faith in a small Southern Baptist church in Canada, and one year later, after reading the biographies of Lottie Moon and Bill Wallace, I informed my church that I believed God was calling me to be a missionary to Asia.

While in seminary, Sherri and I accepted the call to go to Temple Baptist Church, Fairfield, California to serve as Minister of Youth and Outreach. It was at this church in which I was licensed to preach and ordained to the gospel ministry. We served there for three years (1983-86), after which we accepted a call to return to Canada, and to work with the Home Mission Board as a church planter/developer in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan. We served there for five years before being appointed missionaries through the Foreign Mission-Board. While in Canada, I had the privilege of serving as vice-president of the Canadian Convention of Southern Baptists (1989-90), and as moderator of the Northern Lights Baptist Association (from 1990 until appointment).

We are now serving as church planters among the Chinese minority of Southeast Asia.
