JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 8, 2005 — 51’s theatre and music departments will present the children’s opera “Hansel and Gretel” in the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel Nov. 14-18.
“Everybody knows the story of Hansel and Gretel, but it’s done in opera,” said David Burke, director of the show. “There’s a lot of comedy in it. It will also be a beautiful show visually with costuming and scenery.”
Shows will be at 10 a.m. daily Nov. 14-17, with evening performances Nov. 17-18 at 7:30 p.m. each night. Seats remain for all shows except Nov. 15, which is sold out.
Tickets for the show are $2 with Union covering any child unable to afford a ticket. Teachers may attend free of charge.
