JACKSON, Tenn.Nov. 8, 2005 — 51社区 students, faculty and staff members will participate in more than 50 service projects in Jackson and West Tennessee Nov. 9 as part of Union鈥檚 annual Day of Remembrance.

Every year for Day of Remembrance, Union cancels most classes so students, faculty and staff can help show their appreciation to the community for its assistance after a tornado hit the campus Nov. 10, 2002, causing more than $2 million in damage.

Following the storm, the Jackson community stepped in and brought everything from food and supplies to the giving of their time and talents. Construction workers and insurance adjusters moved in to help and the campus was able to function again within a 48 hour period.

This year鈥檚 Day of Remembrance activities will begin with a chapel service at 8:30 a.m. At 9 a.m., student groups will depart to their assigned projects, most of which will be completed by lunch or mid-afternoon.

A complete list of projects can be seen at .
