JACKSON, Tenn.Oct. 28, 2005 — Student directors from 51社区 will screen and discuss their work Nov. 1 at the Union Student Film Festival.

鈥淭his film festival has been a great opportunity to allow students to express themselves in new ways through film,鈥 said festival director Cam Tracy. 鈥淲e have a very collaborative group of students on campus who help each other produce original films. Some write and perform the music, some run the camera and edit and some provide the acting talent in front of the camera. I鈥檓 hoping it will be a community that will continue to grow.鈥

The third annual festival will feature 12 films, ranging in length from a couple of minutes to 47 minutes. The films will represent a diverse group of genres, including animation, narratives, music videos and action/adventure projects.

Some of the films to be featured include:

-- 鈥淭he Heart of a Champion,鈥 directed by recent alumnus Jonathan Blair, is a documentary about Jackson boxer Don Bowers.

-- 鈥淭racing Oblivion,鈥 directed by recent alumnus Trae Cadenhead, is the story of a graduating senior who questions his path in life up to this point.

-- 鈥渢he good, the bad, and the beautiful,鈥 directed by senior Nic Pfost, is a love story shot in downtown Jackson shot from a unique visual perspective.

The film festival begins at 7 p.m. in the W.D. Powell Theatre in the Penick Academic Complex. It is free and open to the public.
