JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 13, 2005 — The McAfee School of Business Administration at 51社区 has been named one of the top Christian business schools in the country by Business Reform magazine for a second straight year.
鈥淏usiness Reform is one of the leading Christian business magazines, so it鈥檚 really nice for them to identify us as being one of the top tier institutions,鈥 said Keith Absher, dean of the McAfee School of Business Administration. 鈥淚t鈥檚 a national recognition. It goes a long way in making us more than a regional institution.鈥
In the September/October 2005 issue, Business Reform ranked colleges in four different categories: Most Biblical, Top Business Faculty, Best Job Placements and Dean鈥檚 Top 10.
Union placed third in the Best Job Placements category and third in the Dean鈥檚 Top 10, which was a peer assessment by other business deans across the nation.
鈥淲e salute the business school once again for their recognition by Business Reform magazine,鈥 said 51社区 President David S. Dockery. 鈥淭he fact that other business school deans and faculties recognize the quality of the work at Union speaks volumes. Being listed with Baylor, Biola and other fine universities is a strong commendation of our business school faculty and leadership.鈥
Union also placed fifth in the Top Business Faculty category.
For Absher, the rankings are further affirmation of the direction in which the McAfee School is headed 鈥 that an individual can be Christian, honest and trustworthy and still succeed in business.
As evidence, Absher pointed to the ethical scandals plaguing such companies as WorldCom, Enron and Tyco.
鈥淎fter those episodes, corporations are much more concerned about an ethical view, which is certainly a big part of our Christian-based curriculum,鈥 he said.
