JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 12, 2005 — Terry McRoberts, a music professor at 51社区, and Hal Poe, a Christian Studies professor, will present a lecture recital Sept. 20 at 51社区.
McRoberts will perform the 鈥淒ante Sonata鈥� from the 鈥淪econd Year of Pilgrimage鈥� by Franz Liszt. The sonata is based upon Dante鈥檚 鈥淭he Divine Comedy.鈥�
Prior to the performance, McRoberts will lecture on the relationship between Liszt鈥檚 sonata and Dante鈥檚 poem. Poe will also present a lecture, 鈥淗ell: From Allegory to Analogy,鈥� to set the stage for the evening.
The lecture recital begins at 7:30 p.m. in the Hartley Recital Hall, located in Jennings Hall on the west end of the Union campus. The event is free and open to the public.
