Colson to speak at Union Sept. 22

JACKSON, Tenn.Sept. 8, 2005 — Charles Colson, founder of Prison Fellowship and author of more than 20 books, will speak in a Sept. 22 worship service in 51社区鈥檚 G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel.

The service begins at 7:30 p.m. It is free and open to the public. 鈥淐harles Colson has become one of the senior statesmen among Christian leaders in this country,鈥 51社区 President David Dockery said. 鈥淗e has influenced countless lives through his books and his radio program, and we are deeply honored to welcome him to campus.鈥

Colson, a former aide to President Richard Nixon, pleaded guilty to Watergate-related charges and served seven months in prison. He became a Christian prior to his prison term, and shortly after his release launched Prison Fellowship, the world鈥檚 largest prison outreach that serves the spiritual and practical needs of prisoners around the world.

He is the author of such books as 鈥淗ow Now Shall We Live?鈥 鈥淜ingdoms in Conflict鈥 and 鈥淏orn Again.鈥 Colson鈥檚 column is nationally syndicated, and his daily radio program, 鈥淏reakpoint,鈥 is heard on 100 stations.
