JACKSON, Tenn. — April 7, 2005 — Author and businessman Kent Humphreys will be the guest speaker for this year鈥檚 鈥淏usiness Through the Eyes of Faith鈥� conference April 13 at 51社区.
The third annual conference is designed to encourage and equip members of the West Tennessee business community to integrate their Christian faith into their workplaces, according to Union business professor Kenny Holt.
鈥淯nion is an institution dedicated to equipping people to think Christianly and serve faithfully,鈥� Holt said. 鈥淥ne of the reasons that God has us to work is to become his witnesses in the workplace. Kent Humphreys is going to address how we can be effective witnesses as we carry out our responsibilities at work.鈥�
Humphreys spent 30 years as a successful business leader, owning and operating a nationwide general merchandise distribution business. He sold the family business and now serves as president of Fellowship of Companies for Christ International, a ministry focused on inspiring Christian business leaders through seminars and conferences.
He is the author of 鈥淟asting Investments: A Pastor鈥檚 Guide for Equipping Workplace Leaders to Leave a Spiritual Legacy.鈥� He also co-wrote the book 鈥淪how and Then Tell: Presenting the Gospel Through Daily Encounters鈥� with his wife Davidene.
The conference begins at 11:45 a.m. in 51社区鈥檚 Coburn Dining Room and will conclude at 1 p.m. Cost is $10 and includes lunch.
It is sponsored by Union鈥檚 McAfee School of Business Administration and its Center for Business and Economic Development.
