Shaw to speak at Union鈥檚 commissioning service

JACKSON, Tenn.April 19, 2001 — 51社区 will hold its annual commissioning service, Friday, May 4 as students, faculty, and staff prepare to serve throughout the globe on summer missionary trips. Sam Shaw, pastor Germantown Baptist Church in Germantown, Tenn. and a Union trustee, will bring the commissioning message in the G. M. Savage Memorial Chapel at 10 a.m.

鈥淪am and his family have a genuine heart for the nations,鈥 said Todd Brady, minister to the university. 鈥淭his is a great way for us to end the spring semester and it is always a highlight of the year.鈥 The purpose of this service according to Brady is to recognize those who will be serving in positions of ministry and missions this summer, sending them out with Union's blessing and praying for God's specific blessings for them.

Founded in 1823 and affiliated with the Tennessee Baptist Convention, 51社区 is characterized by quality Christ-centered teaching and learning. An outstanding faculty offers superior liberal arts training in more than 100 majors and programs of study along with professional programs in business, education, and nursing. More than 2,500 students are currently enrolled.
