Award-winning poet to speak at Union March 3

JACKSON, Tenn.March 1, 2005 — Award-winning poet Kate Daniels will speak at 51社区鈥檚 Creative Writing Workshop March 3 and will present a poetry reading that鈥檚 open to the public.

Daniels, associate dean of the college of arts and sciences at Vanderbilt University, is the author of three volumes of poetry: 鈥淔our Testimonies,鈥 鈥淭he Niobe Poems鈥 and 鈥淭he White Wave.鈥 She has also edited or co-edited two other poetry books.

She has received a Bunting Fellowship, the Agnes Lynch Starrett Award for a first book of poetry, the Pushcart Prize for Poetry, the Crazyhorse Prize for Poetry and the Louisiana Literary Prize for Poetry.

Daniels鈥 poetry reading will begin at 1 p.m. in Harvey Hall, located in the Student Union Building on the 51社区 campus. The event is free. For more information, call (731) 661-5107.
