JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 28, 2005 — Mike Weeks, chairman of 51社区鈥檚 Board of Trustees and president of the Southern Baptist Foundation in Nashville, Tenn., was recognized with the 2005 Honorary Alumnus Award during this year鈥檚 alumni awards banquet Feb. 19.

鈥淲e certainly congratulate Mike Weeks on this most well deserved recognition from the 51社区 alumni,鈥 Union president David S. Dockery said. 鈥淢ike has been an outstanding leader and guide as chairman of the Union Board of Trustees. His wisdom and insights regarding all aspects of the university are trusted by all members of the board.鈥

Weeks is a graduate of Delta State University and is a former vice chairman of BancorpSouth Bank and executive vice president of BancorpSouth, Inc. During his term as chairman of Union鈥檚 Board of Trustees, Union has completed the Vision and Values 2005 long range plan and completed its Building a Future capital campaign one year ahead of schedule and $3 million ahead of its $60 million goal.

He and his wife, Trish, have three children and seven grandchildren and are members of Judson Baptist Church in Nashville.

鈥淢ike is a straight shooter,鈥 said Union trustee Jerry Tidwell, pastor of Ellendale Baptist Church in Memphis, Tenn. 鈥淢ike displayed the same Christian integrity as CEO of BancorpSouth as he did as a teacher in children鈥檚 Sunday School. We are very grateful to have him at Union and the Southern Baptist Foundation.鈥
