Gray to speak about family, sexual issues in Union’s ‘Family Life Series’

JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 8, 2005 — Alabama pastor Buddy Gray will deliver three messages at 51 this week about building healthy relationships.

Gray, pastor of Hunter Street Baptist Church in Birmingham, Ala., is the guest speaker for this year’s Family Life Series. The topic for this year’s series is “What’s the Deal with Sex?”

He is a graduate of Samford University, Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and has been pastor at Hunter Street since 1986.

The first message on Wednesday, Feb. 9, is entitled “Joseph and the Original Desperate Housewife” and will explore how to deal with sexual temptation. On Thursday, Gray will deliver a message entitled “Extreme Makeover: Morality Edition” in which he will discuss what the Bible has to say about sex.

His final sermon on Friday, “Real World: 51” will cover six realities for students as they seek a mate, including the myth that getting married will make a person happy.

“There are a whole lot of people, particularly girls, who think, ‘If I get married I’ll be happy,’” Gray said. “That’s simply not true.”

Gray will speak at 10 a.m. each day in Union’s G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel. The services are open to the public.
