JACKSON, Tenn.Jan. 12, 2005 — In honor of the Martin Luther King Jr. holiday, 51社区 will offer two service opportunities for students, faculty and staff Monday, Jan. 17.

One group will visit the Mission Convalescent Center at 118 Glass St. in Jackson. The group will leave the Union campus at 1 p.m. and will visit and play games with the elderly residents at the center until 4 p.m.

The other project will take place at Birth Choice, 391 Wallace Road in Jackson. Students, faculty and staff will leave the university at 9 a.m. to do landscaping, cleaning, minor construction and repairs and office work there.

鈥淥n Monday, many will reflect on the profound significance of the life of Martin Luther King Jr. by engaging in acts that are in keeping with the spirit Dr. King espoused,鈥 said 51社区鈥檚 campus minister Todd Brady. 鈥淎 fitting way to honor Dr. King鈥檚 legacy is to participate in service to others.鈥
