JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 11, 2004 — Regional filmmaker Julian Williamson in association with 51社区鈥檚 Lyceum committee will present three films representing his work over the last 10 years at W. D. Powell Theatre Nov. 18-19 at 8 p.m. nightly.
The three films included in the screenings range from 16 to 48 minutes in length. These include 鈥淗atchie River,鈥 which focuses on the cycle of seasons along the west Tennessee River, and 鈥淭ent Revival,鈥 which follows the members of First Baptist Church of Sharon, Tenn., from praying for revival to the actual tent service. 鈥淭ent Revival鈥 features music composed by Tommy Harden and Brian Sutton, formerly with Ricky Skaggs.
The third film featured, 鈥淩oad Work,鈥 is the longest and follows two groups of construction workers as they remove old asphalt and replace it with new. The film was finished this year and these showings will be its public debut in Jackson. This is also the first time the three shows will be seen together as they were previously shown individually in film festivals across the South.
鈥淗atchie River鈥 has garnered awards both at the Rochester International Film Festival in New York and Smoky Mountain/Nantahla Film Festival in North Carolina. 鈥淭ent Revival鈥 received the cinematography award at the Carolina Film/Video Festival. Both of these films premiered at 51社区.
