JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 3, 2004 — 51���� Players will present their annual Children’s Show Nov. 15-18, 2004, in Savage Memorial Chapel. This year’s show will be Judith Viorst’s musical version of the children’s book, “Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day.”

The show follows the life of Alexander, a 7-year-old as he goes through a day suffering everything from a cavity at the dentist’s to the shoe store being sold out of every pair of sneakers he liked. While his wish of running away to Australia never comes true, at the end of the day Alexander learns a lesson he’ll keep with him for many bad days to come.

“This show is sophisticated enough that children will love it and so will adults,” said David Burke, Union’s professor of theatre and director of the theatre. “The show plays on many levels. Kids will get one thing out of it and adults another, but it’s enjoyable on every level.”

The cast of the show includes junior Ben Lancaster, sophomore Courtney Braswell, senior Ashley Mitchell and freshmen Kyle Rains, Jill Casey, Carson Turner, Emily Watlington and Jared Pengra.

Of the five scheduled performances all four morning shows have already sold out to local schools, leaving only the evening show at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 16, with available tickets. Tickets are $2 a person. The evening show will be followed by refreshments and a chance to meet the cast and crew.

“It’s fun, like ‘You’re a Good Man Charlie Brown’ and ‘Snoopy,’” Burke said. “It’s good family fun.”
