JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 8, 2004 — 51社区 students will receive help in the areas of life calling and career during the fourth annual Career University, sponsored by the university鈥檚 office of career services. The event will be held Tuesday, Oct. 19.
The day will include a series of ten 45-minute workshops for undergraduate and graduate students as well as alumni. The theme for this year is Questions for Life Calling and Career.
鈥淭his year鈥檚 sessions will be interactive and very informative,鈥 said Jacqueline Taylor, director of career services at Union. 鈥淪pecial interest will be placed on students鈥 serious questions about their life calling.鈥
The sessions will tackle issues from understanding your talents and abilities to internships, resume writing, salary negotiations, graduate school and more. About 75 to 100 people are expected to attend the event.
A 鈥淒ress to Impress鈥 fashion show will wind down the day鈥檚 events at 5:30 p.m. in Harvey Auditorium. The event is free and will include food and drawing for door prizes. Corporate sponsors include Northwestern Mutual Financial Network, Coca-Cola, Pfizer Pharmaceuticals, U.S. Army and the Tennessee National Guard. The sponsors will also be accepting resumes from students who are interested in beginning their careers with them.
鈥淲e want each student to understand how their chosen vocation can truly be a ministry,鈥 Taylor said. 鈥淚f students understand this they can make a positive impact on the world for Christ.鈥
