JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 10, 2004 — Al Jackson, pastor of Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, Ala., was inducted into the R.G. Lee Society of Fellows on Sept. 9 at 51社区.
Induction to the society is one of the highest honors given by the faculty and board of trustees of the university.
鈥淥ne of the things that we have as our privilege at 51社区 is to carry forth the R.G. Lee tradition of great communicators, great statesmen and great leaders in Southern Baptist life,鈥 said President David S. Dockery, who presented Jackson with a framed certificate.
鈥淒r. Al Jackson has done at Lakeview Baptist Church in Auburn, Ala., something that I do not know of anywhere else in developing the intern and mentoring program he has with students,鈥 Dockery said. 鈥淚t鈥檚 one of the most exciting things I know about anywhere in the United States. To see this church-based theological education and pastoral preparation that is taking place there is one of the most exciting things and most visionary things that I know of anywhere in this country.鈥
As a fellow of the society, Jackson will have a paper included in the next edition of the Union Pulpit, available at the Southern Baptist Convention in 2005.
