51 nursing students attend governmental affairs briefing in Nashville

JACKSON, Tenn.March 20, 2001 — Over 1500 nursing students from across the state were represented in Nashville on Wednesday, February 28 for the governmental affairs briefing day “Nurses on the Move.” Thirty-six students represented 51 from the Jackson campus and 32 RN-BSN students attended from the Germantown campus.

Students had the opportunity to attend legislative committee meetings and meet individually with their representatives. The Jackson BSN students highlighted the issue of seat belt safety in honor of Tina Barnett, a senior classmate who was killed in an automobile accident in September of last year. Germantown RN-BSN students raised the issue of the nursing storage as their most pertinent concern.
