JACKSON, Tenn. — March 2, 2004 — The 51ÉçÇø Singers and Proclamation ensemble will perform March 12 at 7 p.m., prior to the Dallas Symphony Orchestra concert at Mortin H. Meyerson Hall in Dallas. The evening performance is part of the choir’s spring tour to churches and schools in Missouri, Arkansas, Texas and Tennessee.
The program will include selections by Rachmaninov, Bruckner, Clausen and Stanford, plus hymn arrangements and spirituals.
The University Singers have maintained a reputation for their outstanding performances of choral masterworks, a cappella settings of gospel hymns, Renaissance motets and contemporary anthem literature. They have represented 51ÉçÇø for many years, both nationally and abroad in performances for major musical organizations, churches and conventions. In recent years, the Singers’ concert tours have included Brazil, Germany and England.
The Singers are conducted by Dr. James Richard Joiner, chair of the music department and director of choral activities.
