JACKSON, Tenn. — March 2, 2004 — 51社区鈥檚 department of music will host a guest recital by vocalist Sharon Mabry on Monday, March 8 at 7:30 p.m. in the Hartley Recital Hall. Hartley is located in Jennings Hall on Union鈥檚 campus.
Mabry is a professor of music at Austin Peay State University in Clarksville, Tenn., where she teaches primarily vocal pedagogy and private voice. She also serves as the director of graduate programs in music.
Mabry has established a career as a recitalist and soloist with symphony orchestras. She has performed in venues such as Merkin Concert Hall in New York City, the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. and the National Public Radio 鈥淎rt of Song鈥� series. Her classical recordings have aired on radio stations in the United States, Canada and Europe.
Mabry holds a bachelor鈥檚 degree in music education from Florida State University. She earned a master鈥檚 degree in music and a doctor of musical arts degree from George Peabody College, as well as a performance certificate from the Franz-Schubert-Institut in Austria.
