JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 10, 2004 — The 51社区 art gallery will host an art show by Tyrus Clutter February 9- March 4. The show is free and open to the public Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends.
Tyrus Clutter, a painter and printmaker originally from Michigan, focuses his work on investigating dualities within the incarnational nature of Word and Image. Many of his recent works have been a mix of Word and Image within individual works of art or as a visual exploration of a narrative story.
He has also done a series of altarpieces based on people who have influenced his faith through writings, artwork, or personal relationships.
鈥淭yrus' work demonstrates artistic excellence,鈥 said Michael Mallard, department chair and professor of art at 51社区. 鈥淗is prints and drawings provoke new understanding of biblical truth.鈥
Clutter is currently director of Christians in Visual Arts at CIVA. He has also worked as director and curator of the Friesen Art Galleries at Northwest Nazarene University and as a critic and lecturer on art history and aesthetics at Northwest Nazarene University and at Bowling Green State University.
Clutter鈥檚 work has been exhibited in numerous national exhibitions and in some international venues.
