Union Homecoming Full of Exciting Activities for All

JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 10, 2004 — "Don't Miss the Tradition" is the theme for Homecoming 2004 at 51社区. The focus of the annual event is values and traditions that make up the Union experience. The fun-filled week of memories revisited by alumni and created by present students will kick off Feb. 12 with activities for alumni, students and the rest of the Union family.

On Wednesday, Feb. 18, a special chapel will feature Christian artist Ginny Owens, a Dove Award winning performer and song writer. Later that evening, a special coffeehouse concert will also feature Ginny Owens in the Coburn Dining Hall. This event is free, and everyone is invited to attend.

This year, the Class of 1954 will be honored with 50-year medallions, which will be presented to them during the Founder's Day Homecoming Chapel. Following lunch, the alumni will be shuttled downtown for a visit to the old campus on which they gained knowledge, learned life-lessons and established relationships during their college years at Union.

Along with the 50 year reunion is the 40 year, 25 year and 10 year reunion celebrations. Alumni from the classes of 1964, 1979 and 1994 will gather at the Barefoot Student Union Building on Saturday for conversation, food and music.

Academic departments will offer alumni dinners as well as professional development sessions that will feature fellowship with former classmates and practical information.

Saturday, Feb. 21 will bring a reunion brunch and reception, with the annual Alumni Awards luncheon immediately following. Among the awards to be presented are the award for the reunion class with the highest percentage of alumni contribution and awards for outstanding Union alumni.

A basketball double-header that evening showcases the Lady Bulldogs and the Bulldogs as they take on the Lee University Flames. At halftime the 2004 51社区 Homecoming Queen will be announced and the Presidential Cup will be awarded to the class that has the most outstanding participation in the week's activities.
