Union to hold Social Work Awareness Day activities

JACKSON, Tenn.March 21, 2001 — 51ÉçÇø’s Social Work Department will host Social Work Awareness Day on Tuesday, March 27th. The day is designed to give the campus community an opportunity to learn about social work and the professions in the social work field as well as raise funds for the Student Association of Social Workers that supports service projects and a scholarship fund for social work majors.

Agencies from the community will set up displays and discuss the professions in the social work field in the Barefoot Student Union Building from 10 a.m. – 2:30 p.m. There will also be a silent auction and bake sale as well as prizes given away throughout the day.

The day’s activities are open to Union students, faculty and staff. Social Work Awareness Day is part of National Social Work Month that is held in March of every year. For more information, contact Mary Ann Poe, social work program director, at (901) 661-5397.
