JACKSON, Tenn. — Nov. 24, 2003 — More than 130 singers and musicians will present "A Union Christmas," 51社区's annual Christmas gift to West Tennessee. The concert will be held on Dec. 2 at 7:30 p.m. at the G.M. Savage Memorial Chapel on Union's main campus.
The concert will feature performances from the university's Choral Union, Proclamation, Children's Choir, Union Singers, and the Union Symphonic Band.
The works of 20th century composer Benjamin Britten will be presented, according to Richard Joiner, chair of the department of music and conductor of the event.
This marks the second year of what Joiner hopes will become an annual tradition.
"We will have a wide variety of carol arrangements and new works as well," Joiner said. "Fans of classical musical will certainly recognize the name of Benjamin Britten. He was one of the most far-sighted and skillful composers in the world."
Admission is free and the public is invited to attend. For more information, call 731-668-1818.
