JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 10, 2003 — Student tickets for the seventh annual 51社区 Scholarship Banquet will be available Oct. 13 at Union Station.
A limited number of balcony tickets are available for Union students at Jackson and Germantown. Tickets are available on a first-come, first-serve, basis.
Former New York City Mayor Rudolph Giuliani will be the keynote speaker for the event set for Oct. 27 at Jackson's Carl Perkins Civic Center at 7 p.m.
As mayor of New York, Giuliani directed the city's response to the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001. His efforts to restore order and provide relief to the victims led to worldwide praise including being knighted by the Queen of England and named Person of the Year by Time magazine.
"We are pleased and thankful that Mayor Rudy Giuliani is available to be with us," said Union President David S. Dockery. "He is a picture of leadership and has become a true American hero. The event promises to be an outstanding evening."
Lead sponsors for this year's banquet include BancorpSouth, Carl and Alice Kirkland, Pentair Tools Group (Porter-Cable, Delta and DeVilbiss) and Jack and Faye Porter.
