JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 9, 2003 — Princeton University scholar Robert P. George will speak at the commencement services of the 179th graduating class of 51社区, Dec. 13 at West Jackson Baptist Church. The ceremony is scheduled to begin at 11 a.m.
George, a member of President Bush鈥檚 Council for Bioethics, is the McCormick Professor of Jurisprudence Princeton University. His fields of study include legal and political philosophy, constitutional law and civil rights and liberties.
A graduate of Swathmore College and Harvard Law School, George holds a doctorate in philosophy of law from Oxford University and is also the author of many books including his first, Making Men Moral: Civil Liberties and Public Morality, and his most recent work, The Clash of Orthodoxies. He is a frequent contributor for several national law school journals.
George serves on the boards of directors of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, the Institute for American Values, and the National Association of Scholars. He serves on the editorial boards of American Journal of Jurisprudence, Academic Questions and First Things.
