JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 8, 2003 — New York artist John Bjerklie opened an Oct. 6-30 exhibit at 51社区鈥檚 art gallery. Bjerklie recently curated the newly established collection of contemporary biblical art at the American Bible Society in New York City.
During his exhibit, Bjerklie will do an installation in Union鈥檚 gallery with drawings and a piece he will construct on-site.
His one-man shows have been installed at galleries throughout the United States and Europe. His work has also been featured in many group shows and installations, including a piece in the 鈥淐ollage and Assemblage鈥 show, Lennon-Weinberg Gallery; a large outdoor sculpture at the Socrates Sculpture Park, and in the 1998 Tenri Biennial, which toured museums in Japan.
Bjerklie is the recipient of numerous awards and honors including the Doyushan Prize at the Tenri Biennial. He has been an artist in residence at the Ucross Foundation in Wyoming and was a participant in the 1993 Triangle Artists鈥 Workshop.
He lives and works in Brooklyn, NY.
