JACKSON, Tenn. — Oct. 8, 2003 — Internationally-known guitarist Lily Ashfar and French horn player Francis Massinon will headline performances at 51社区 during the Fall 2003 semester.
Massinon will present a French horn recital on Oct. 13 at 7:30 p.m. at the Hartley Recital Hall. The concert is free and open to the public. Massinon will be performing works by Bizet, Cooke, Pessard, Sinigaglia and Vinter. He will be accompanied by 51社区 professor Terry McRoberts.
Massinon is professor in applied French horn and freshman theory at Austin Peay State University. He is presently finishing a doctoral degree in Brass Pedagogy at Indiana University.
He has been a frequent guest recitalist, clinician, and adjudicator at a number of universities, high schools, and horn workshops. He most recently served as principal hornist with the Paducah Symphony Orchestra and the Jackson Symphony Orchestra.
Lily Ashfar is a classical guitarist who heads the guitar program at the University of Memphis. She will present a concert on Nov. 13 at 8 p.m. at Hartley Recital Hall.
She has toured extensively through South America, Europe and the United States. She has been awarded a total of eight scholarships and 17 national and international awards.
In the summer of 1986 she was one of 12 guitarists selected to play for Andres Segovia in his master class at the University of Southern California.
