JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 22, 2003 — 51社区 will host a performance by organist Gerre Hancock Sept. 25 at 8:15 p.m. in the G. M. Savage Memorial Chapel.
Hancock is the organist and master of choristers at Saint Thomas Church Fifth Avenue in New York City. He has served on the faculty at Juilliard since 1971 and teaches improvisation on a visiting basis at the Institute of Sacred Music at Yale University.
Hancock's performance has been called "a triumph of creativity" by the Washington Post and "a splendid feat of musical imagination" by the Calgary Herald. His discography includes Christmas Improvisations, Fanfare and Improvisation II.
