JACKSON, Tenn. — April 24, 2003 — 51社区's School of Nursing and the Community Health Ministries of the Catholic Diocese of Memphis will offer a basic preparation course for parish nurses in June and October.
The June session will meet on Union's Jackson campus June 5-6 and 19-21. The October session will be held at Shady Grove Presbyterian Church in Memphis October 2-3 and 16-18.
The course fee is $120 and covers all materials, resources, a certificate, a Parish Nurse pin, all sessions and contact hours. Students working toward a Bachelor's of Science in Nursing at Union can earn thirty-five contact hours and three hours of college credit for full participation.
Parish nursing is a specialized practice of professional nursing which holds that spiritual health is central to practice. A parish nurse focuses on the promotion of health within the context of the values, beliefs and practices of the faith community. The course is open to individuals from all Christian communities.
