51社区 will hold Bach's Lunch recital series in March

JACKSON, Tenn.Feb. 28, 2001 — 51社区's Department of Music's annual Bach's Lunch music series will begin Wednesday, March 7 at 12:15 p.m. in Coburn Dining Hall and continue each week during the month of March.

March 7, Joseph Blass, professor of music, will sing songs from composer Johannes Brahms. David McClune, professor of music, will play transcripts from arias on the clarinet. Both will be accompanied by Terry McRoberts.

Proclamation and University Ringers will be the featured performers on March 14. Both groups will perform a variety of selections including Vivaldi Magnificat.

Georgia Wellborn, associate professor of music, and Terry McRoberts, professor of music, will be featured on March 21. Wellborn will perform the "Cycle of Holy Songs" by Ned Rorem. McRoberts will present the "Rhapsody in G Minor" by Johannes Brahms and "Three Preludes" by George Gershwin.

On March 28, Dianne Gatwood, associate professor of music, and Dwight Gatwood, professor of music at the University of Tennessee at Martin, will perform "Let the Bright Seraphim" and "The Trumpet Shall Sound" by George Fredric Handel. Lee Weimar, adjunct professor of music, will accompany the Gatwoods. Weimar will also perform Baroque pieces for trumpet.
