JACKSON, Tenn. — Feb. 23, 2001 — 51社区 associate professor of music Michael Penny will perform a voice recital Tuesday, March 6 at 7:30 p.m. in Hartley Recital Hall in the new Jennings Hall.
The recital will feature two Psalms settings, an English aria by Britten, a Russian aria by Rakhmaninov, and six Russian comic songs by Shotakovich. Assisting Penny will be Allison Keas on piano, Rev. David Vaughn on trombone, and flutist Jill Vaughn.
Penny received his bachelor' s degree and master's of music from Louisiana State University, and his doctorate from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. He has also studied at Oxford University, England.
Penny has performed a public solo voice recital in London, England at the historic St. Mary-le-Strand church. The recital included compositions by Penny and a special appearance by British guitarist Rose Andresier.
