JACKSON, Tenn. — Sept. 4, 2002 — The at 51社区 recently launched its internet website which provides information about the Center in addition to sponsored conferences and other activities. One exciting feature of the website, according to Ray Van Neste, director of the center, is the full list of projected holdings in the Center鈥檚 Ideal Pastor鈥檚 Reference Library. Carefully hand-picked, the books on this list have been recognized as the best of their kind in the field of biblical studies. The website provides a listing of all the current holdings in the Center, as well as a list of all the works the Center intends to acquire over the next few months. The launch date for the Center鈥檚 physical library itself is set for spring of 2003. The web-site also provides book reviews, internet links and ongoing news announcements concerning the Center.
Many prominent publishers have contributed generously to the Center鈥檚 holdings including Thomas Nelson, Broadman & Holman, Tyndale House, InterVarsity Press, Moody Press, and the Center for Church Reform. These publishers have donated more than $5,000.00 worth of books and software this summer. Baker Books has also recently promised a significant donation which is expected to arrive this month.
The Center鈥檚 first conference on biblical interpretation and exposition is scheduled for April 3-5, 2003. Haddon Robinson, Gordon-Conwell College, Robert Smith, Beeson Divinity School, and Sandy Wilson, pastor of Second EPC, in Memphis, Tenn., will be the primary speakers. Sub-sessions focusing on teaching and preaching specific portions of Scripture will be led by Union faculty as well as visiting scholars including Grant Osborne of Trinity Evangelical Divinity School and Dan Block of Southern Baptist Theological Seminary.
