Those attending will participate in a symbolic tribute to the victims by picking up stones that have been part of an outdoor art memorial created last November by Union art students. While scripture is read aloud, participants will deposit the rocks on available trucks which will be taken off the campus property. Union President David S. Dockery will speak. A tree will be planted in place of the memorial as a permanent reminder of the Sept. 11 tragedy.

鈥淭he opportunity for corporate remembrance is important for all of us,鈥 said Union President David S. Dockery. 鈥淚t will provide a time for reflection and a time to seek strength and hope from God.鈥

The service is being held by the university as part of American Character Week, sponsored by the Leadership Council of the CHARACTER COUNTS! Coalition, a nonprofit, nonpartisan partnership of more than 500 different organizations across the country.
